Layering: The Secret to Supple Winter Skin

Winter skin can be a force to be reckoned with, but with the right products, you can keep your skin in tip top shape regardless of the season.

Are you a body butter person or a lotion/cream person? What if I told you that the secret to keeping supple skin is to use them together?

Body butter and lotions have the same purpose – moisturizing dry skin – but their role in accomplishing total moisturization is different. A lotion or cream is created primarily with water or other hydrating ingredients. They may also contain humectants (ingredients that attract water) like hyaluronic acid or glycerin. The water and hydrating ingredients are great for getting the moisture into the skin, but without something to hold the moisture in any that hasn’t absorbed completely will quickly evaporate.

That is where body butter comes in. Body butter is thicker and more occlusive meaning it forms a protective barrier over dry skin skin and helps prevent the active ingredients in your lotion from evaporating. This provides better penetration and more noticeable skin moisturization.

So for supple winter skin, when you get out of the shower start by applying a layer of our Luxurious Body Cream then follow it up with our Rich Body Whip (Body Butter). As an alternative to our Rich Body Whip, our Multipurpose Oil or Silken Dry Oil Mist will work in the same way. Your skin will love it, and you’ll love the results.
